The Myth Of The Magpie?

Description

This is a large (for me) engraving on Resingrave. It is a subject that I have been interested in for a long time. The idea that a magpie is attraxcted to, and steals, shiny objects seems to be a myth. However, the idea still appeals to me and I decided to weave various "treasures" into the nest.

Since seeing two magpies is thought to be more "joyful" than just one, I have engraved a second in the distant top right corner.

As with many of my engravings, I have set this scene with the silhouette of Ely cathedral, as seen from my village, on the distant horizon.

With an image size of 177 x 127mm, this is one of the largest prints I have engraved.
